In high school I used to skip class and hide out in the library stacks, pulling books at random to see what was inside. Black Nationalism, early childhood development, some biography or another… I kept a journal and lost it. It was thrilling. I was thrilled to be learning and thrilled to have escaped my dreadful classes. I was full of wonder and the adrenaline of (on site) truancy.
